Alternative energy is another
area that the Group has identified as being an important driver
for its future growth. With the world’s consumption
of fossil fuels running at an all time high, the Group has
embarked upon an ambitious and far-reaching program that will
lead to the construction of wind-powered electricity generating
stations in Heilongjiang, Northeastern China. In May 2005,
the Group invested approximately HK$64 million (64% share)
in registered share capital for Phase One of the new project.
In July 2005, the Group reaffirmed its confidence in the enormous
potential of alternative energy by investing an additional
HK$75 million (75% share) in registered share capital in Phase
Two of the project.
Such strategic business moves are sure to form the basis
for the Group’s ongoing success in the years to come.
